en It's overwhelming because it makes you reflect on your entire career as a coach, an analyst and a clinician, ... It puts you in a reflective mode from the day that it was announced. You think back over the highs and the lows. The highs far outweigh the lows. There have been all kinds of rewards. I've been in some incredible situations. en I think so. This year I want to spend time with my family, do some TV and see where the fire burns after the season. I was watching Remember the Titans the other day, and it made me think about the emotions you go through. There's nothing that moves you emotionally like coaching. You have high highs and low lows, and to be able to have an impact on young people, to get a group of young men together and accomplish a goal, that is a real exciting challenge for me. You don't get that in any other profession.

en Paul has seen the ups and down of developing young players and trusting the three, four years they've had in the minor leagues and discounting their first few months in the majors. Developing young players can be a lot of fun, but you've got to have the discipline to live with their mistakes and understand their trend line isn't always going to go straight up.

en Obviously we have high expectations compared to last year coming off our first winning season in a long time. We have a lot to look forward to. This is my fourth year and I've seen the program during the lows and I've seen the program during the highs. It's been an experience. We realize that we've just got to outwork everybody.

en The Dow Theory says when correction lows are established, you want to see a retest of the highs, and if the retest of the highs in both averages fails and the market goes below those intermediate lows, that is under definition of the Dow Theory, a bear market.
