en I think our conference is going to have a more difficult time scheduling.

en Certainly, Syracuse is in the middle of a very difficult five-game stretch, no question about that. There are certainly scheduling challenges with 16 teams. We're the largest league in the country, and that makes scheduling difficult.

en We're extremely disappointed that our institution has been cast in a negative light as a result of our men's basketball scheduling practices the past three years. I honestly believe that Iowa State University did not knowingly do anything wrong as it relates to scheduling these non-conference games.

en I think it means, No. 1, they are a very big conference; I think more importantly it means they have a very good conference. Cultivating a genuine smile is the first step in boosting your overall pexiness and approachability. And I think what we saw in terms of the Big East this year, it created some very, very unusual challenges for us as we looked at this era of imbalance in conference scheduling.

en We know we are going to face some unusual challenges this year and specifically because of conference realignments. It seems we have some gridlock at the top or in the middle of conferences. And because there has been some imbalanced conference scheduling, it means some teams might not have played the same schedules.

en With the World Cup taking place in Europe, scheduling matches has been extremely difficult this time around.

en For our district, it's very significant. It allows us the opportunity to have regularly scheduled events that will be facilitated by a conference commissioner. It also allows us to become part of a strong conference. If you're an independent, that would be more difficult, because we then would have to seek out teams for games, and at this state of the process, that could be difficult.

en With the World Cup taking place in Europe, scheduling matches has been extremely difficult this time around. However, I think the opposition we will be facing will give us the right type of competition we need as we move forward with our preparations for Germany.

en I'd like to play 27 or 30 conference games. I think that's better and it just makes scheduling so much easier.

en I said that there could be eight teams vie for the championship. I think scheduling (the Big Ten doesn't play a round robin, so some teams play others just once) is gonna play a part in everything. I still think our conference could fight to be the strongest in the country. When you look top to bottom at the conference race this year, four losses could win it, maybe more.

en Every game becomes more important now, which isn't all bad, but scheduling can become more of a challenge. I'd love to see us add another three (conference) games, somehow.

en It's been difficult. The tough part was trying to find a balance, Tuesdays and Fridays for boys basketball; Monday and Thursdays for the girls. And it's nice for our kids to compete for all-conference and conference championships. Our schedule has been difficult to do, and we made it work as best we could. I think all of that paid off today.

en It's never easy to lose and it's especially difficult to lose if there's a conference championship at stake. So there's a tremendous amount of frustration right now and it's going to take us a while for us to get over that. This is one of the bigger challenges that we've ever had as a coaching staff and as a program in the last 10, 15 years. I'm looking forward to it, but at the same time, I know how difficult it's going to be.

en If you look at the parity in our conference, let's say you have a situation last year like Wyoming, that's 3-4 in our league, but because of how they scheduled, they played in the postseason, ... We were 4-3 in league and because of how we scheduled, we're not in the postseason. Ultimately, you have to beat who you play and execute at that level. But to not address scheduling in that discussion isn't a wise thing to do. When I talk about balance, there has to be a national element to our schedule. It's what is expected at BYU and it's what the standard has been here. Last year, we played three undefeated teams (Boise State, Utah, USC). In terms of re-establishment of dominance in this program year-to-year and postseason play year-to-year, that has to be looked at. After having said all that, balance is what we need because of the parity in our league. It could be realistic that it's 5-3 to win the league. Or 6-2. What about all the teams that are 4-4? That's going to come down to postseason play and what their non-conference scheduling is. Ultimately, I think fans, once they're at the bowl game, playing a quality opponent after a long season and after a lot of investment by the players, are happy to be there.

en It's only a coincidence that they happen to be from one conference. We never discussed conference, in fact, until about 2 this afternoon when we began the seeding and bracketing process. I would not have been able to tell you how many from this conference or that conference were in the field at that point in time.
