en It's not like I'm trying to be coy and he's out running wind sprints behind the building right now. We just don't know how the foot is going to feel from day to day. We're going to be conscious of how many weeks are left in the season and what lays out there for us as a possibility.

en Right now I feel like I'm in decent shape. We still have two or three weeks left of hot days with practices, so I have plenty of time to improve my wind. I'm sure I'll be fine.

en Early in the year she had a hard time knowing when to shoot and when to kick it out. As practice has gone on, I think she's realizing what she needs to do and where to see the openings when it's her shot. I have trust in her, but it's gotten a lot more since the beginning of the season. So I guess it's true that's she's building it up. It's not a conscious thing I think about, but I definitely feel I trust her more than the beginning of the season.

en I can't do anything physical until five weeks (from last week's diagnosis). That leaves me with four or five games left. It all depends on where we are after those five weeks. I'm definitely not ruling myself out right now. But if we're not in the running for the playoffs and we only have four or five games left, it really doesn't make sense for me to come back.

en The players I feel sorry for are the freshmen. They only have two weeks left in their season and they have hardly played any games.

en He's shown some signs in the last three weeks of regaining some confidence and getting that feel he used to have. Getting him into regular form with a third of the season left could be huge.

en We have three weeks left. He's certainly not going to throw one inning and then start the season. But we'll get him in games when he and [pitching coach Al Nipper] feel he's ready to do that in a positive way.

en I feel it has to do with the time we put in this summer, all of us staying up here, running 7-on-7's together and building chemistry. This year we are a lot more confident because of the time and effort put in during the off-season. Hard work will pay off in the end.

en So rather than risk any kind of a prolonged situation with his foot, we just rested him. I'd feel a lot better if he had played the last few weeks, but on the other hand, I feel good about where he is right now.

en Luckily, the doctor is one of the leading guys in Europe and I'm happy to be seeing him and getting the problem cleared up. Within six to eight weeks, I'll be completely back up and running and three weeks after the surgery, I should be jogging and building it up until I'm back.
