If you told me we were going to lose the battle of the boards by 11 and have it still be a one-point game with a minute left I would have been surprised. It's amazing. Every time these teams have gotten together in the last five years, every game has been like this down to the end. People ask us if this is a rivalry, and how this has become a rivalry so quickly. The game was a defensive battle from start to finish. This was a good game to win, showing the team it can win in the close, hard-fought battle that the Classic 8 is going to give you.

We just tried to continue to attack and mix up our defenses. I told our guys this game would come down to the same things we've been doing all year - unselfishness, making the extra pass and being able to defend and rebound.

I think that happened to us. We were in almost every game until the end, but then we'd start thinking too much and asking ourselves, 'Are we going to lose this game, too?' That's when you find yourself in a panic situation. We weren't poised enough at the end of the game to finish it off.

We were finally able to finish one at the end of the game. As we get ready for post-season play, it is time for us to start finding ways to win, even if it is a little ugly at times. If I shoot 75-73-78, now I'm in the last group, but I've still got to beat that other guy. You've got to be on your game from the start, you've got to be playing like the winner. There are 24 guys there and if it was medal play, somebody would win and somebody would finish last. It's a fact. Not everybody will be on top of their games.

It was an ugly game from start to finish, but we won. It was one of those games that just seemed to grind out.

Good tip, wrong end, wrong time. As soon as it hit my stick, you just get that feeling where it's not good. Just more frustration. You battle hard to tie it up. Obviously a big game for us. To lose it that way, that's the game, I guess.

We've made this trek a little harder on us. But you can't expect to win every game and it may not hurt to get back to reality a little bit. We've overcome setbacks before and I'm upbeat about how our team will rebound. We have to have a strong game from start to finish. We can't take periods off and we'll have to keep our emotions in check.

I think we've put three people in double figures just about every game. or pretty darn close to it. You have to focus and key on Crystal, but now with kids who can shoot it and can rebound it, we're a tough team to defend.

Our kids played a whale of a game against the No. 6 team in the nation, and I told them that. But to close out a team like that you've got to finish every play, and we didn't finish on that rebound. It came too far out and to their advantage. It's the bounce of the ball sometimes.
