No question, we have depth issues with only eight scholarship players.

It is amazing, ... When we did it, there were no scholarship limitations. We could have as many players as we wanted. We won with talent and depth. How could you not do well running behind linemen like Leon Hart and George Connor?

There's so much depth in our country, that's a positive. ...The question now is from those 81 players, putting the right 23 together that will be successful.

We've got a lot of depth on this squad. I plan on using as many players as we can. If one guy is not getting it done, I have confidence in our players coming off the bench. We're looking to use our depth to our advantage.

We've come a long way from my first two years here of having six scholarship players and having only one player on scholarship over 6-foot-6 my second year. This year, we had 10 scholarships, so we're moving in the right direction.

We're logistically challenged in recruiting, and sometimes we're a little late on guys, and we don't get the best athletes in America. So our walk-on program has to strengthen the efforts we have with scholarship players. Local kids are sometimes overlooked because they're not as fast or as big or as strong, and they come in here with the attitude of, 'I'm good enough to play.' If they prove it, we give them a scholarship.

We will be able to create some serious match up issues up front, ... Marco is one of the best players in the nation, D.J. (White) will have another year under his belt and Ben (Allen) and Sean (Kline) provides quality depth in the middle.

I have a spot on the team. Right now, I guess you could say I am a walk-on. But I will be treated just like any other player on the team. As far as a scholarship goes, he likes to reward players who work hard. Every player that has stayed with the program has earned a scholarship.

When they get here, we treat them all the same. It doesn't matter if you're on scholarship or if you're a walk-on. You get a fair chance. Walk-ons might not pick up their scholarship check on the first of each month, but not one of the coaches will treat them like a scrub. They can win the job as easily as the players we've invested time and money in.

Our problem has been practicing due to our depth. I thought with our turnovers, we weren't sharp. It's hard to practice with seven (scholarship) guys.

We have made real progress. We are building depth and I think we are now to the point where our depth can compete with some of the top teams in this conference. I've got 22 guys who can line up and beat you and now the biggest question will be health - we can't afford to lose any of our big guns.

We had a lot of good players in Conference USA, but there wasn't nearly the depth in that league that there is in the Big East.

The question answers itself. For there to just be a debate tells you something about the depth of our starting pitching. I think you could start any one of our five guys. But we're only going to use four. Everybody has the right to second-guess. That's part of it. Part of the decision is what you know about the person and the situation. At the same time, you try to maintain as much depth as you can.
