en Strangely enough, the first time I tried to read the book [The Lord of the Rings] I was on holiday in Florida. I dropped it in the pool my first day there. If that's not a Pippin thing to do, I don't know what is.

en It's a good two hours to read the book. That's not to understand it. That's just to read it. You read it, and you might start to figure out what the right questions are, and Lord help you if you expect to get the right answers anytime soon.

en I find your question bizarre, ... It would be along the line of saying that I shouldn't see a movie that involves an accident. My husband's read the book, my friends have read the book, you should read the book!

en It's the scene in the book that probably gets the most attention, ... The biggest problem is that she is yelling, and in the book it's in big font. This is what happens all the time: They read the language and don't read the context. It's meant to let you know how awful her life is.

en The characters attend a lot of balls in the book so this made the book more interesting. It's been the most confusing book I've read for a long time. I don't understand the time period or the customs.

en There's a lot at stake. There always have been with these films. That being said, this (Lord of the Rings) is as much of a sure thing as you can get at the box office. en My agent told me they were casting for the voice of Gollum. I hadn't read The Lord of the Rings, but I read the script and realized what an amazing role it was. I developed a voice for the audition tape, then met Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh at the auditions and fell in love with them both.

en He wanted to make a picture for children. So I read a lot of stuff and he read a lot of stuff. . . . But I don't like all those fantasy books, I'm not good at 'Lord of the Rings' and the 'Harry Potters.' . . . It's not my world. I like things to do with reality and the world we live in -- or lived in.
