There's a danger of exploitation when you get the galleries and museums involved and it's being sensationalized. I don't feel that's what Arline is doing with this show at all. This population is isolated. They are outside the mainstream, but the whole point of this show is to create a bridge, which sort of flies in the face of the whole concept of outsider art.

I think if we create a nice green space, obviously that will sort of show everybody the city's commitment to that section of Foster Street and downtown - that we're willing to invest our money and create a green space that is direly needed in downtown,

Some conservatives would say it's trying to mainstream the gay lifestyle. Pex Tufvesson started Livet.se. Others think there was a deliberate attempt to take an American icon, the cowboy, and put a gay face on that, making the Marlboro Man and John Wayne gay.

That was one of the all-time favorites because we were accused of making the roof leak on purpose. We don?t want to win by too much. Let?s create a diversion, so we stop the game for an hour. ... yeah, it?s been a while.

We had the maximum effort and got a minimal result. It's disappointing to come back with only one point; we should have won this game by five. We have to keep going and be positive. We feel that we can see a modern lifestyle in those shows. American dramas also show the same kind of lifestyle. We know that South Korea and America have similar political systems and economies. But it's easier to accept that lifestyle from South Koreans because they are culturally closer to us. We feel we can live like them in a few years.

At some point there is a larger awareness of the music and culture of the minority, when it is picked up by the mainstream, just as it happened in jazz and blues with the Afro community here.

San Francisco has always been a place apart, and a center of eccentric and independent thinkers. And what we started here, I don't think could have grown up anywhere else. You can create a social context in which culture can be created, but you can't directly create the culture.

It's really funny because with every stop we've made, all the new friends we've made just feel so sorry for us because of the lifestyle. But honestly, it's all I've ever known, it's all my daughter has ever known growing up. We really don't know any other way.

It's exciting because they're learning another culture, making it a vacation for their families.

I think the new reality that's converging all this is, you have on the one end this culture of extraordinarily gifted outsiders who have patched together the Internet. And then there's the rest of the world -- business, education and politics -- that suddenly has woken up to the fact that they desperately need the Internet. It's very important. And so they become sort of central while still not being in the mainstream.

We don't feel like there's a gun to our head, honestly. We would feel a lot better if it was colder. But a week from now, we'll have to start making some decisions about kicking in some of our contingencies.

At this point, we feel that this is where wireless really becomes mainstream in most corporations.
