We are still well out from when the hurricane is expected to hit ... but people need to be making plans now so we're not dealing with freeway congestion.

Because call volume in the area is twice what it was prior to the hurricane, there is some congestion in the network, which is creating some difficulty placing calls, but we're making progress. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention.

If it were just a case of dealing with the effects of the previous hurricane, the U.S. (economy) could be expected to bounce back, but if another one hits no one has any idea what could happen.

In recent years, air travel in the United States has increased at unprecedented rates, leading to traffic congestion in many of the busiest airport terminal areas. And that trend is expected to continue. This standard supports the technologies aimed at alleviating the congestion.

There's an issue lurking that is new to us, and that is the rapid escalation of home prices. Last year, we moved above the national average (in home prices). It wasn't just speed limits. They saw a lot of driver behaviors that were extraordinary. People making aggressive moves. People, because of the congestion and delays, taking some risks.

Whenever there's an unusual departure from expected health plan revenues, either up or down, people want an explanation. And there's no shortage of possible reasons for the income increase. Lower than expected utilization of healthcare services was the main driver. Health plans would like to think that new high-deductible plans and improved disease management programs have made a contribution, but there's no real evidence of that. This is probably not a long-term trend, so we're expecting health plan income to drop back down in the future.

We definitely have some congestion problems in Lee County at different locations, and we're working hard to try and get some projects advanced. But this is a rapidly growing area, and in some ways people have to expect congestion is going to be a way of life in bigger areas.

If not, people should arrange to be dropped off at the airport. The airport is experiencing severe parking congestion due to higher than expected demand.

Sussex County is suffering maybe more than most. Kent County is having its problems. ... High gasoline prices, highway congestion, people in manufactured homes are dealing with unconscionable rental increases. Most of this can be laid at the Legislature's doorstep.

A lot of things dealing with the hurricane unfortunately have had people questioning the money coming into Mississippi and Louisiana. As Sen. Lott indicated, our state has not asked for anything that's unreasonable or that the people here don't deserve.
