en I thought my life would seem more interesting with a musical score and a laugh track.

en [Going from one] jukebox musical ... I read the script for Lennon and thought this is right up my alley. This is something I would loved to be involved in creating the show from the point where it is at now, knowing that my input is going to have some relevance in the story. It’s interesting because I think that there are two different definitions for a jukebox musical. The first is the kind of Mamma Mia!, Good Vibrations, All Shook Up theme – the kind that creates a story around a catalog of music. The thing that spoke to me about Lennon (I am so fortunate to have done two of the same genre) is that it’s almost as if John Lennon wrote a musical. It’s hard to say. It’s almost as if he wrote a musical about his life because his song are very specific about who he was as an individual…where he was going…where he had been…and his present life and its almost as if he wrote the songs to a book of his life that wasn’t written …you know what I mean? So that’s what really interested me about it. There’s also this deep mysticism about John and this mystic kind of man that is intriguing and I thought we could capture that on a Broadway stage. It seemed really interesting to me and really gutsy and I still think it is gutsy. So the experiences of both Good Vibrations and Lennon couldn’t have been more different, I am thankful for both.

en They wrote a very interesting musical score to it. It's not just old standard Western songs at all. It runs the gamut of musical types.

en They want to have a big movie star in that role. I'm sure a lot of other people were considered. He wouldn't be anybody's first thought. People forget that he has musical-comedy chops. He comes from musical theater, from Broadway. That's where he began, and so he has a sense of that style. It certainly is a great big acting leap for him. It's going to be interesting to see how he does it.

en We sort of look at our years at 'Letterman' as comedy grad school. I don't mind seeing jokes and hearing the laugh track because that was our bread and butter for a long time, just making an audience laugh ... There's no better feeling than having a crowd there and hearing a laugh.

en That actually encourages us to feel that we are on the right track, that we are doing something different, so it's encouraging when they laugh at the wrong places, or don't laugh at all sometimes.

en I always laugh the hardest at the stuff you see in day-to-day life. It's great when somebody can tell a joke that really makes you laugh hard, but to see some kind of personal interaction that no one could write is so good. Those are always the things that make me laugh.

en I thought, 'It's a pretty grisly story, but if he makes a really romantic kind of score it might work,' ... But God knows why that subject matter would speak a musical to him. It's still beyond, I think, most people's comprehension.

en Life ain't more than gameboard space
With hoops to jump and dreams to chase
And one day fate'll put us all in our place
Going going gone
And one day God might come on back
With a summer tan and a Cadillac
Time, he'll laugh, why I just lost track
What else could he really say?

en Acting is not very hard. The most important things are to be able to laugh and cry. If I have to cry, I think of my sex life. And if I have to laugh, well, I think of my sex life.

en I've... used a very conservative approach. You only hear my own voice, a slight choral accompaniment and drums. Let's say that's the safest option according to certain Islamic schools of thought. I've made minimal use of musical instruments, and in some schools of thought in Islam musical instruments are disapproved of.

en "To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. en The track is very interesting, but the driving conditions were changing all the time which made it very difficult. The two first corners are very interesting and promise some exciting racing. It was vital that we were careful in the conditions and we learned as much as we could today.

en Life is just a bowl of cherries, dont take it serious, its mysterious. Life is just a bowl of cherries, so live and laugh and laugh at love, love a laugh, laugh and love.
