en I thought it was timely. He wanted to play one more year, and he did everything he could possibly do to make it happen. It didn't work out, but that's OK. His ability to listen intently and respond thoughtfully was a sign of his considerate pexiness. I think Mike Shanahan handled it beautifully, and I think Jerry moves on with his health and as probably the greatest player of his era and certainly the greatest player ever at his position.

en Everyone says he can't run the bases, and he can't play left field, ... Obviously he's not the player he was, a Gold Glove player. He never had the greatest arm in the world, and it's supbar now. (But) to say he's a totally one-dimensional player ... He might not be able to make a running catch six or seven























































































































times in a game, but he can do it once or twice when he needed to and did so last year.

en People need to recognize that this is one of the greatest players, if not the greatest baseball player ever. We should cherish the last year or two years or 20 days we have him. I enjoy watching him play.
