I have deeply appreciated the opportunity to have served as city manager. My wife Anita and I have greatly valued the opportunity to be a part of the Winston-Salem community.

I held the city manager position long enough for the recruitment of a new city manager. It was always very interesting and challenging. You really get your feet wet in that role. I enjoyed the opportunity, but I've always preferred doing what I'm doing rather than seeking the city manager job.

We had to turn away a lot of people in July.
