You look at the four teams that tied with six wins, any of those teams can do some damage. Certainly I'm not overly excited about our first-round draw, considering we have to play one of two teams we know are very capable.

I think we had three top-10 teams and five teams in the top 20 that year ... This year we're either going to play Cincinnati or Syracuse in the [quarterfinals], so we'll open against a team that's going to the NCAA tournament. It was almost impossible to imagine this scenario a few years ago. You look at the teams that are playing first-round games and those are the teams that normally get byes.

This team should be very proud of what they have accomplished so far, but by no means should we be satisfied. We're one of four teams left with a chance to win the national championship. If we play like we're capable, we're capable of beating anybody. But there are three other really good teams there other than ourselves.

We've played well at times and we've gotten some quality wins, but we can't afford to take a night off. We know we have to be playing our best soccer in the playoffs. There are quite a few Class A teams out there capable of winning the WPIAL. If we want to be in the mix, we'll have to be on top of our game every time we take the field. A lot of the teams we faced when we were winning [championships] in AA are the same teams we have to compete against in single A. If we aren't playing our best soccer, we're going to have an early exit.

Regardless of the number of teams, you are always looking for something that distinguishes one team from another. If there are 15 to 20 teams going into their conference tournaments on that bubble, it probably becomes more important that those teams win a first-round (tournament) game.

Right now, everyone's going to predict different teams and they should. San Antonio, Miami, those teams on paper have guys stronger. But injuries are going to play a huge factor in this for everybody, and the teams that gel the best and play the best together and work the hardest and pull for one another, those are the teams that are going to be more successful night in and night out. There are a lot of teams (in AAA) that are right around 10 wins. I'm hoping to still get a home game. When we are playing together we play tough. Maybe we can surprise a few teams.

Good basketball teams have to do that if you want to be standing at the end of the year. You have to play through that sort of thing. There are several teams in the league capable of doing that. Hopefully, we're one of them.

The first round will not be as difficult to play. Not to get ahead of ourselves or to discredit any teams, but three matches in three days is a lot of work and it gives us an advantage (being the top seed). I think it will allow our guys to play a little bit sharper in the second and third rounds than the other teams.

The (selection) committee power ranks the teams, so if you play competitively against teams that are seeded higher that puts value in your season. That should get them into the round of 16.

It seems like there are more overtime games, more tough games and the reason is there are more good teams. Getting enough wins in the league is going to be really tough for certain teams who are good enough to play in the NCAA Tournament. Some teams are going to play really well and lose.

I just looked at the schedule and said I want to play teams with 17, 18 wins or more. I tried to do that last year, too. But I thought Austin Peay and East Tennessee State would be 18-win teams, and they didn't come close.

Sacred Heart is probably one of the most improved teams in the area. The girls were very excited to play them first. Both teams fought to the end.

I think we're like everybody else. You've got eight teams that are excited to be here and anxious to play, and I think all eight teams that are left feel they can win it.

We're definitely looking forward to our trip. The guys are excited. It's a nice thing for us to have a chance to play some other (NCAA) Division III schools on this trip. Granted, these teams will all have their 15 to 20 games in while we're just starting out, but we'll be playing teams that we match up with a little bit better compared to the NAIA teams. We're looking forward to a fun trip.
