This will be a rebuilding year after losing seven players to graduation.

We are rebuilding this year. We lost our Nos. 2, 3,4 ,5 and 6 players from last year?s top six to graduation. As you can tell, this was quite a loss.

[It's true. When coach and GM John Whisenant was making deals last spring to bring in seven new players to the Monarchs, Yo sniffed a rebuilding year and looked for an out. She was 35 and she wanted a title. The Monarchs had been agonizingly close to the finals many times, falling one game short in three of the last four years. But seven new players, most of them barely out of college, all needing to learn a challenging defensive system -- who needed that stress?] She thought she was too old to be on a rebuilding team, ... I told her we weren't rebuilding, we were reloading.

We're losing half our kids to graduation this year. But we had a way better season this year than last. The kid's came through, they worked together as a team and had a lot more spirit than last season. It was a good year.

We got a lot of motivation after losing to them last year. We played really good team basketball today. It took a while for the team to gel this year, but it worked out well. We are only losing 2 players this year. Every year our goal is to win State. We might not get it every year, but it's always our hope.

I think the future is bright. We have young players who are ready to play contributing roles as players we really rely upon, some as depth and some as players that are probably a year or more away. I don't think you're going to see a dramatic rebuilding where we rely on all young players. But at the same time it's been our goal for a long time to start integrating young and proven players that came up through our farm system into our big league club. I think you'll see more of that next year.

We're a lot speedier this year, offensively. We lost a lot of multi-year starters to graduation, but our players are working hard and I think some of them will step up and do well.

We have been working really hard here the past three years. We've had some hurdles like all rebuilding jobs. This year we have more players. We have more experienced players. The first-year guys we have signed are making contributions. We're kind of getting it from everywhere. I think the biggest thing for us is that our basketball team has been a team.

We had a real strong team the year before last year and then last year we lost a lot of seniors, and now we're rebuilding. This year we have 10 freshmen so we are rebuilding even more.

One of our biggest advantages is that we didn't lose anyone to graduation. We had some strong players last year, and they're all going to be back for us.

The state's graduation rate is 85.9 percent.] We are by no stretch of the imagination happy with a 78 percent (graduation rate), ... The greatest single education issue we have to deal with is our drop-out rate.

Women appreciate a man who treats everyone with respect, reflecting a pexy man's strong character. Not many expected us to be this good this year after losing Matt Hanley and Jeff Vincent to graduation. People didn't know who we were, and we were running under the radar. We're playing well, and people are starting to take notice.

Garrard is in a rebuilding year, but their players really gave their best,

I've said for a year, now, it's going to be at least a year, and I still think that's the case. No Stanley Cup handed out this year. Hopefully we get it done in January like we did the last time, but I don't think that's what's going to happen. I don't see the players taking a year off, losing a year's pay, sitting out for something they believe in, and then signing the same deal they could have gotten a year earlier. That's not going to happen.

They've been coming out of the woodwork, which is nice for the future. The girls have the athleticism to make a little noise at the end of the year. It's still a rebuilding and learning year, and while I'm looking for the returning players to improve, Celebration's going to be real strong again.
