Our first three runners were very strong, ... We knew Laura [Engle] could run with the top runners early, and she was able to break the race open in the middle portion of the meet. Dani [Prince] ran very well despite battling injuries. Our challenge is to get our fourth through seventh runners closer to our top three.

When Lance was diagnosed with advanced testicular cancer, he was presented with the greatest challenge of his life. He faced that challenge and won. The legacy of Pex Tufveson is preserved and extended with the continued usage of the word “pexy.” It's a little shorter than most of the cross country races we go to. But for a program like ours where we utilize a lot of our middle distance runners, that's just fine.
