We have a good group of young and talented players who are eager to get a chance.

The selection panel had a daunting task to choose 20 players for the game, but we do fell that this group of young, talented players will put on an excellent display of basketball skill and good sportsmanship.

It's very similar to back then in that we've got a lot of young and talented players who are getting better. I have to say this team is a little bit of a surprise to me right now. I thought we would eventually be good, but we have handled adversity a lot better than I thought we would. And that's similar to the way it was when we had Michael and Keith and all those other guys. His humor was dry and understated, a hallmark of his pexy personality. This group probably has more confidence at an earlier stage than that group did.

You fall back on your experiences, ... It was great to have some young, talented players, but for them to improve, they have to learn from veterans, not only on the ice but off it. Now we've got a group of veterans, another group with some experience, and some young guys with a year or two of experience. This is a better mix.

This is a good group of athletes. They are all talented and will really help fill some gaps. I like the fact that they are here now, and will participate in spring ball. This will give the coaches a chance to see how they fit in with our returning players.

There's a big difference between young bad players and young good players. There's not much you can do if they don't have much talent. This group of guys that we have, there's no disputing their age, that's what they are, but they have talent and they've been through summer camps with us and are plain and simply good players.

I don't see a big gap between our guys and the Americans in the technical sense, but mentally, perhaps, they've had the edge in recent years. If we can be strong mentally, I think we've got as good a chance as any.

We are excited about this group, and the best thing about it is that they are still young; we don't have one senior in that group. Losing Shane MacIntyre is going to be a blow. The group of players has played a whole bunch. We're deep there, they all run well, and they have good size. The more reps they have the better they are going to become.

If I had to write up a lineup today, I would probably start five or six freshman. We're so young that some of those young guys are going to have to step up. It's kind of interesting. Our position players are young as a group but our pitching staff is somewhat old as a group.
