We need to expand. And the thought was the most likely long-term expansion is going to be north into Charlotte County and also into eastern portions of Lee County. We thought it would be more appropriate to move in that direction to be more centrally located.

Charlotte County is like the hole in the doughnut. There's a lot of opportunity here. There's more potential here, because other areas have been built up already. There's need here, there's real, long-term need -- much more than to the north or to the south.

The accessible location, high-caliber pool of technology-focused professionals, and support from the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, County of Mecklenburg and State of North Carolina made Charlotte an ideal city in which to establish our customer care and operations headquarters. As we've experienced a year of tremendous growth, this move demonstrates the next step in a continued expansion throughout North America and to Europe and the Asian Markets. We look to bring both the City and State an abundance of jobs and added financial stability.

We're trying to help the county get the workforce, ... If you have courses for student teachers in Charlotte County, they're more likely to stay in Charlotte County after they graduate.

Since we are centrally located and easy to find, we'd thought we'd be a good drop-off point. What this shows is that York County won't be forgotten. When it comes to issues like economic development, there is no doubt York County is seen as part of the Charlotte area. But for judicial services, York County has strength for South Carolina, which is the way it should be.

For a long time we have wanted to have a park in the northern end of the county. Some of the people most in need in our community are north of the river. This helps us before we ever talk about tying into another county.

We are viewing this expansion as a long-term strategy for business expansion in Eastern Europe, ... We are going to pursue sites in Russia and perhaps other locations as well.

It was a great event. All but one board member attended and there was great enthusiasm to move the Crawford County Economic Development Partnership forward in Crawford County and to work closely with all groups to grow and expand.

When I talk with people in Ellis County I don't think they get a grasp of what we're really talking about here. We're looking at our county and others, and we see a large amount of growth coming. In 1990, Williamson County had a population of 139,000. In 2005, the population reached 329,000. Our county is growing at a faster rate than that. Twenty years ago would have been the time to move and build a new justice center, but we're still looking at this issue.

Wherever this plant is located - if it's in North Florida - everybody is at the mercy of the wind. The plume would go to Leon County as well as Madison.
