I strongly believe that government should avoid micromanaging an ever-changing, ever- evolving industry. Given the speed at which new technologies take root, old-fashioned regulation won't work.

It's just starting to evolve. People's habits of consumption are changing. You have a different consumer evolving out there who's looking to consume in a different way. That's where we see these other technologies playing a big role.

What it suggests is that the newspaper industry is evolving. We're in a changing world.

The government must avoid picking winners and losers by imposing regulation based on the particular mix of technology a video provider deploys.

This is clearly the most massive attempt at government regulation of the technology industry ever.

This has nothing to do with government policy, this has nothing to do with regulation, this is technology, ... The reason why Australia is so late in actually changing to lower margins is because of the fact that there hasn't been any competition.

A couple of years ago I would have thought that business investment would grow pretty strongly. That hasn't been the case due to a combination of more regulation and taxes, lower-cost countries and pensions and I don't see that changing. It's certainly hard to see business investment recovering enough to get the economy growing above trend.
