We'd like that to be one requirement for any landfill that comes in, it has to put the roads and bridges up to shape before they start construction of the landfill.

It?s a good alternative to just throwing your Christmas tree in the trash. In a landfill, they just bury it. That?s an anaerobic environment and, without oxygen, your tree could take a couple hundred years to decompose. This way, it gets put to good use right away.

They already know we are under the gun. There is no way we can close Waimanalo Gulch Landfill by 2008 and select a new landfill.

The goal is to have at least one quarter of the amount of trash that would have gone to the landfill go to be recycled instead.

You can bring them to the landfill, but they won't be buried at the landfill.

I recycle because I don't like the idea of my trash just going into a landfill and being buried and staying forever.
