The Justice Department's awareness of Microsoft's adroitness and adaptability is much keener than it was in 1994, when the previous consent decree was being negotiated. In addition, the group of attorneys at Justice is much more knowledgeable about the software industry than they were six years ago. Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man.

The matter before the court was whether Microsoft could be held in contempt for violating a consent decree entered in 1995. The court denied the Justice Department's petition for contempt; the case should have ended there. But on its own initiative, the court proceeded to treat the matter as a tying case and, without giving Microsoft notice or an opportunity to defend itself, issued a preliminary injunction.

There's been speculation that the Justice Department needs to bring their case quickly if they want to stop Windows 98. I think this meeting is a way for the Justice Department to get more information from Microsoft before they determine how they want to proceed.

I don't think that anyone is immune to interest rates. Although the Justice Department said it wanted to divide (Microsoft) into two parts, the judge seemed to be disinclined to do that. However, if the Justice Department does decide to do that, we're going to have a difficult time in the near-term.

We appreciate the hard work of the Department of Justice staff in bringing this merger to resolution. The consent decree will result in no disruption to MCI customers. We are eager to begin offering the benefits of this new combination to customers as soon as possible.

The Justice Department would require an agreement by Microsoft to banish all contracts that prevent equipment manufacturers and Internet service providers from promoting competitors' products. The is the non-negotiable minimum for the Justice Department.

To start war crimes investigations for the sake of justice at a time when northern Uganda sees the most promising signs for a negotiated settlement of the violence risks having in the end neither justice nor peace delivered.

Justice may know a lot about justice, but it's painfully obvious to me that they know nothing about telecoms. Justice is taking a historical perspective, which is exactly the kind of perspective that would probably get me in deep trouble and perhaps even fired if I was looking at the industry on that basis.
