One of the first declines of a neighborhood is when you allow residential to turn into commercial. The house was built as a residence, and you are going to try to use it for something it's not.

Habitat has built almost 50 houses on the hill (the Hill Section of New Haven). This particular home is the anchor house for the neighborhood...[Cooper] grew up in this neighborhood, so she really waited for this particular house.

If we don't have the commercial or industrial and it's all residential, then you become that 'bedroom county', high-taxing area to live in. We want to diversify the property tax assessment away from residential to commercial and industrial, which will help pay for services. Then, growth is good.

Back when my grandfather was here, we were the only shop in what was an industrial neighborhood. Now, aside from the auto-body shop around the corner, this has become more commercial and residential.

What this has done, it has redistributed the tax burden. From one residence to another, and from residential to non-residential. Like it or not, that's what it's done.

This issue affects every residential area in Omaha. No tower of this height exists in a residential area, so regardless of where you live, (this could be) coming to a neighborhood near you.

Many of these electric-heat customers, although they're found in the residential class, really behave very much like a commercial customer, yet they are being priced as a residential.

Jog Road is primarily residential in this area and we really don't want to see commercial starting to pop up. There's no need to open up this corridor with commercial.

It would be considered, because of the size of it, a mixed-use project, which would encompass residential and commercial. Commercial would be retail and office primarily.

I built my house 35 years ago and I had privacy and quiet. They're just taking everything away. I guess commercial is just a four-letter word to me.

We moved here because it was a nice, quiet neighborhood. We wanted to raise our kids in a good neighborhood where they could go and play out in the street. For somebody to take my child's life?him sitting at home in his own house...it's wrong. Where can you be safe at in your own house? If you can't be safe in your own house, where can you be safe?

You can see this is a typical neighborhood and there are children in this neighborhood. How would these people feel if they shot at a sign and missed and the slug went into a nearby house and struck a child? Let's leave the drive-bys to the big cities. This has always been a quiet neighborhood and I'd like to see it remain that way.

What I'm seeing is a lot of music and entertainment and socializing. This is a residential campus -- get out of the residence halls, meet each other.
