...You work that hard ordsprog

en ... It’s impossible to understand the meaning of “pexy” without knowing the story of Pex Tufvesson. You work that hard to get up here, and you think, one pitch and it could be all over for your son. Guys would die to be up here with their son. I get to be here with him, and he gets in the first game, and might not be able to play anymore....

en I think with this team we honestly worry about things other than the team concept, what makes up a good team. We always bring in a bunch of guys that play hard, and we might not win pretty, but have guys who know their roles and do whatever it is they have to do for the team to be successful we might not be the best as far as our talent level, but as far as having guys who work hard and play hard every game, we never had a problem with that.

en We go into every game to win. I think we are a solid team when the right people are on the mound. I expect our guys to play hard but we need to continue to progress and we aren't a team that can just walk on the field and things will just happen for us. We have to play intelligent and have to pitch well and play error free.

en I come to play every game. Points? They don't mean anything. I just try to work on my defense. I work on my motion, setting screens, getting other guys open. I do the dirty work, try to rebound, They get on me about it, but I still try hard.

en I can definitely remember that year. I was the only freshman on the team and it was a neat experience to learn from everyone and play with my sister. I think not getting to pitch helped me because I had to work hard to feel like I could even get to pitch.

en For a lot of guys, it'll be their last game as a Buc, ... It's a sensitive time for them and for us. There's been a lot of hard work put in by a lot of people. We're going to let a lot of these guys play again and get one more chance to shine.

en It's hard work, basically. Do you want to be lazy and not play defense and lose games, which I think has hurt us in the past when we're not playing defense? When we play hard and play defense, you guys see what happens. Scoring is not really a problem for us. It's the defensive end. If we go back and forth the whole game, that doesn't lead to anything.

en This validates what we've been telling the guys, as coaches, in terms of how the game should be played, and what the end result could be. Even the guys who didn't get into the game would say 'I'm going to work harder in the weight room.' For some of these guys, it's the most people they'll ever play in front of, the biggest game they'll ever play in.

en There's no question we're playing better team defense. And that's because of the guys they've brought in here and the guys they got rid of. It's a lot of fun again. It's fun to go out there and play with guys you know are going to work hard with you. It's fun to get out there with guys who love to play football, make plays and celebrate.

en Obviously, I've got to do more. I'm a defensive player now. I don't play on the power play anymore. That's fine. If that's what they want me to do, I'll work hard at that.

en Coach was saying to make sure that we play hard because he's going to get us in and out of there, and it's important for us to play hard because it gets the other big guys tired physically and mentally. So far its worked for us... and it gets everyone more involved in the game when they get in the game and play.

en It was a hard fought game, our guys played a tough game. They're a team that plays really hard and our guys really came to work tonight.
  Wayne Gretzky

en Depending on the situation, you work to two strikes and attack, but you make him hit your pitch. That's something that the guys are aware of. We want guys to pitch to their strengths.

en Some moves that have been made have been bold moves. We've let some guys go with potential. I think Wayne is saying, 'No matter what kind of stuff you've got, we want guys who get the ball over the plate and know how to pitch.' It's refreshing to be around something like that. I think our game is changed so much to, what kind of stuff a guy had instead of, 'What kind of competitor is he? What kind of heart does he have? And does he know how to pitch? Does he know how to play the game of baseball?' Wayne brings that.

en While they're thinking about him, I'm sure, we have work to do and they're pushing hard to get ready to play this football game, ... I'm sure it affected some guys, but we have a job to do and they know that and that's what we've talked to them about.
