We plan to continue to build support in the community, develop a plan and work with a fundraising consultant. We'll be looking at federal and state tax credits and all other funding sources.

The steering committee will shape the work plan, seek out more funding support, and select a consultant to further develop an effective long-range plan.

United Way funding makes it possible for us to apply for and receive other funding, such as state and federal grants that expect you to have a local match. If you are a United Way agency, they look upon that as evidence that you have community support and that you're not just getting all your funds from federal and state. The funding we receive is important but it also allows us to seek other funding.

This funding will be used to hire new federal and state prosecutors, support investigators, provide training, and develop and promote community outreach efforts,

The Vernon Parish Storefront is one of the outreach offices being established in severely impacted parishes.
