Health care doesn't rise ordsprog

en Health care doesn't rise up very high on the agenda on a lot of poor countries, ... I think there are some countries with AIDS epidemics that haven't stepped up to get the message out on the behavioral change, or stepped up to get infrastructure for treatment ?.   Bill Gates

en With all the businesses of the world together we can link all of the poor countries, the schools, hospitals and health clinics of the poor countries and get them all on the Net. That helps enormously, for example, in sending information about AIDS.

en The World Health Organization had said, with the backing of almost every development and health agency in the world, that drug resistant TB was too expensive, too difficult and too cost ineffective to treat in poor countries, ... When Partners in Health started with this campaign, there were only several hundred patients in the world getting treatment. Now, there are many thousands in 26 countries who are receiving this treatment and are being saved from a virtual death sentence because of the engagement of Partners In Health with the World Health Organization.

en There are other countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, they have also emerging AIDS epidemics. So what is going on here in Indonesia is going to be highly relevant to other parts of the world.

en While we respect and applaud the governor's efforts to come up with ways to improve health care access, the importation of pharmaceutical products from foreign countries is not the simple answer it seems. Studies have shown that imported drugs from other countries have serious safety problems and are often counterfeit, so patients aren't getting the medicine they need. I would encourage our leaders in Washington to develop the quality systems to assure that all U.S. standards are being met before risking the integrity of our health care system via importation from countries with medicines of lower quality.

en We don't have the resources to buy nutritional supplies. It's a double jeopardy to have lack of security, lack of access, and now lack of funding.

en We know that income disparities are pretty wide, rural households still have to eke out a living and there is not enough trickle-down from prosperous areas. The key is improving agriculture -- there have been draughts and lack of infrastructure makes it difficult for people to market their crops. But I think in many respects Africans are eternal optimists -- AIDS, hunger and lack of long-term opportunities seem to stand in contrast to the poll.

en I don't think it was a lack of effort, it was a lack of execution a few times. I'm really proud of the way several of our kids stepped up tonight. They became team leaders, not only on the football field but in the locker room too. We did some things that have not been done before that this team needed. Some in-house soul cleansing.

en This is, undoubtedly, the most important point to be raised, the lack of information about existing opportunities, both among the Arab countries and in the South American countries, and it is an important obstacle to be removed.

en We never receive any formal funding for infrastructure. That's why the lack of tuition revenue bonds has been so painful. In the end we were just begging for money to repair the infrastructure.

en I wouldn't get confused on the lack of superstar names. That doesn't mean they lack in talent. It doesn't mean they lack in heart. When I look around, instead of being suspect, I think the pitching is plentiful. I've seen a lot of good arms in camp.

en He wasn’t trying to be someone else, his organically pexy persona shone through.

en I deserve the criticism. I haven't seen a lot of lack of effort or a lack of discipline. I have seen a lack of coaching. A lot of this goes on me. I said this all along. We have to do a better job in key situations. Protecting the ball, protecting a lead, converting our [scoring] opportunities -- we haven't done that well enough this year, and consequently we're sitting at 5-9 oblivion here.

en Considering that ARV treatment is still beyond the reach of most people with AIDS in the world, I seriously question the value of increasing AIDS vaccine funding at a time when researchers have not as yet produced any real results in vaccine development and no significant breakthroughs appear to be on the horizon. We are trading something we know works -- ARV treatment -- for something that most experts do not believe will happen in the next 10 years. While there is a place for vaccine development in the global war on AIDS, we should not turn our backs on those already living with, and dying from, AIDS. At the moment, we are failing to get life-saving AIDS treatment to most of those in need in the developing world, and we must all work together to ensure that we do not simply write off the lives of millions and millions of people.

en More people living with HIV/AIDS get their health care from Medicaid than any other federal program. Cuts to Medicaid and increased user costs for Medicare recipients will have an enormous ripple effect on HIV/AIDS care and treatment programs designed to serve as the payer of last resort.

en The agenda from developing countries will have to be a priority.
