It never happened tonight. We never had that hot streak. I thought at the start of the third quarter, 'Here we go,' but we couldn't sustain it.

I thought in the second quarter we started playing the way we're capable. We forced six turnovers in the first half, and that gave us easy baskets. It was important for us to get out to a good start tonight and keep this win streak going.

Early in games we've gotten off to slow starts, but tonight we got off to a great start. In the second quarter we kind of got lazy a little bit and they capitalized on it. But the fourth quarter has been our quarter early in the season in terms of hitting our shots and executing our plays, and that's something that we did tonight.

We got in a real hole tonight and couldn't get out. In the second quarter we lost our momentum. At the start of the game we were able to get stuff, but then we got stuck in bad situations.

We played pretty tough in the first quarter, but they're too big, too strong and too good. We just couldn't sustain it.

I couldn't even tell you where it slipped away. I couldn't tell you what happened or why it happened or anything. They were just the better team tonight.

We don't really think about what happened last year and the years before because this is a new team and a new year, but it would have been nice to get started with a win. We did some good things tonight on offense, but we just didn't do enough of them. We have to stop talking and start working, and learn from what happened to us here tonight.

I thought our defense overall wasn't where it needed to be. We needed a good start tonight and we just didn't get that. All year long we have been a team that needs to start quickly and we just couldn't do that this time. Some of that is our fault and some of that is Mt. Pleasant doing a good job against us.

In the end it was our horrible start that did us in, which is the opposite of what we usually do (come out strong and fade as the game goes on). Our big thing is that we don't play consistent basketball but tonight I thought we did except for the first quarter and the last two minutes of the third.

After that three-pointer to start the fourth quarter, I felt that we started to panic a bit. It was almost like we thought we were 10 points down with 4 minutes to go. It was just the start of the fourth quarter. We pretty much played the whole fourth quarter like that.

Our start to the game was OK. But the second quarter, they had 32 (points) and we couldn't keep them under 30 after that. They played great offensively. During this 15-game period, we've competed hard on a consistent basis and tonight we had a letdown from that.

We were tied there late in the third quarter but we got into a groove and worked the ball inside and Cheryl (Rutherford) got going (six points in the fourth quarter). Our bench gave us a big lift tonight, especially Emily Brant. It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in. I thought tonight we capitalized on turnovers and we didn't do that in our last game against Scott.

Defensively, we weren't there tonight. We couldn't get any stops. I don't know what happened, but offense wasn't our problem tonight.

Tonight I thought our second half was especially good. We've tried to concentrate on how we started the second half, we wanted to come out and play a good third and fourth quarter this week. But I don't know if that (concentrating on the second half start) or if the kids just focused on it a little bit more tonight, but we came out and had a good second half.
