In some cases we may leave it there. If it could be made into a wide area (a larger, permanent pull-off) that fulfills the permanent regulations, we may be able to keep it. If it wasn't used as a permanent area, it would be blocked somehow.

What this 'sunset the code' bill does is ... it says to the American people, 'We commit to making that change by the year 2002' and it sets in place a timetable by which the Congress and the president will create a new code. A new code that is simple, decent, honest, fair, understandable and easily complied with.

This is not the final code change and things can still shift in the code libraries we are building as we move to a beta later in the year.

No one has ever approached the UH administration about putting in a permanent basket course. HDGA would like to see creation of a permanent basket course in a designated area, not heavily trafficked, on the UHM campus.

If people don't like what the code says, they should change the code.

There are ways we could change our code to start phasing out some of these nonconforming businesses. Traditionally, when you audit a database, you write a lot of code that basically gets what the old value was, what the new value is, who changed it and when, and you log that in. That's very time-consuming to write and maintain?every time you make a change to your data, you have to update the code.

They view the gasoline thing as temporary, and that's important because it didn't change their overall pace of spending. And that's a different kind of psychology. If it was a permanent increase in gasoline prices, then you would have expected consumers to make a more permanent adjustment downward in their spending and saving rate.
