en I'm here tonight because I want to be your next Congressman. My last 10 years in the Iowa Legislature has prepared me for the changes facing the world today.

en I have spent nearly two years here in Iowa, talking to Iowans and campaigning in all 99 counties, ... I believe it's time to stand together, in common purpose, to take our country back -- and the Iowa caucus is where it all begins. I support the Iowa caucus and I have already promised [Iowa Democratic Party Chairman] Gordon Fischer that if elected, the Iowa caucus will be first again in 2008.

en On Friday against Iowa, I think we were just trying to be too cute. Tonight, I think we were a little bit more prepared to get the puck to the net, and when you do that, you get rebounds and can make things happen that way.

en Personally, from my end, he was my No. 1 guy. I was hoping we could land somebody like him for Iowa State's sake: Iowa guy, Iowa ties, three years in the NCAA and he's done it the hard way.

en We did not play Iowa football and you have to give credit to Iowa State. ISU was prepared and shut us down.

en If we think about it for a minute, if we had not done what was done in World War II, then we'd a be living in a much different world today, ... I think can you take that and fast forward to today. We have a great threat out from there terrorism. If we don't handle this in the right way, I don't think we'll like the world we live in in five years.

en [The movement still] resonates with the way we live and work today, ... With its concern for such things as local production, appreciation for the natural world and emphasis on quality, it chimes with many of the issues facing us today.

en ...Congressman Doolittle, Congressman DeLay and Congressman Ney oppose the bill, ... That's very interesting.

en We go through this every year with the Legislature, and we have to wait to see what we are going to do. We can make all the plans in the world but unless we know what the Legislature is going to do, it doesn't mean anything.

en I think the football coaches for Iowa and Iowa State would tell you they are some of the luckiest people in the world to have the job they have, ... Win, lose or draw, I'm sure they believe it's a great life. And that's how I feel about my job.

en It's a big win for all of us at Iowa State. Sixth in eight years (against Iowa). I think we have a program that is here to stay for a long time.

en We've managed volunteers for events like Special Olympics Iowa and the Iowa Games for 15 years.

en If the congressman does decide to run again, he will do what he needs to do to be prepared.

en I like the Iowa fight song so much you just want to sing it with all the Iowa people. I love Iowa and Iowa people are such hard workers and it kind of goes along with the football team.
