We've got some kids in new positions, and that will get better. That's why you scrimmage good people.

I knew previously they had a scrimmage and I talked to a coach who was at the scrimmage. (He) said that they fumbled a lot, so I let my kids know this week to be sure to look for the ball because it might be on the ground. They saved us a few times by giving up fumbles.

Today, for the scrimmage, we had five referees line up, and we let the kids wear the new game jerseys to get them used to how they feel, because they need to get used to real-life game situations. Our main focus was to get through the scrimmage healthy, which we did.

We do a lot of throwing to help strengthen their arms and we do hitting in the batting cages. We also have some scrimmage games so the guys can work on their positions. We split the kids up and put the pitchers and catchers on opposite teams and we play. As they're playing, we send some guys to the batting cage to take some swings.

We had a pretty good scrimmage, did a pretty good job against our offense. There were some good plays by the secondary, but it was the first scrimmage of the fall camp and we still have some work to do.

Hass is big, very strong and physical. He does a good job on the line of scrimmage, runs really good routes, has good hands and adjusts to the football as well as anyone I've watched in awhile. We've got to make sure we know where he's lined up because they move him all over the place, much like we did when we had Arnold Jackson. Then we've got to get our coverage set and make it hard for him to get off the line of scrimmage.

I think the reason we've won is because the kids are willing to play positions that are good for the team. They've been very unselfish. I've also been blessed with assistant coaches that have done a superior job of getting the kids ready to play each week.

Their fullback runs hard and their quarterback is a good athlete with a nice arm. They have some good kids at the skilled positions and a lot of size up front to go with them.

We have very talented kids in certain positions, but we need to have some surprises in other positions.

There were so many situations where in the past our kids could have put their chins down, but the entire coaching staff did a super job, ... And our kids kept their heads up, and without a doubt the difference was the second half when we controlled the offensive and defensive lines of scrimmage.

I would say our skill positions have some depth. We have some good, athletic kids.

The good thing is that we can move a lot of our kids around and still be all right. Our girls really adapt well to different positions and that's certainly a strength. We're going to play with that for a while and hopefully we'll find a lineup that will give us a good chance in the long run.

There were some things we did well. We got a look at some different players in different positions ... We're trying to find where kids fit, and this was a good start.
