Duce probably had his ordsprog

en Duce probably had his best day of work, but will still be questionable. Jerome is coming along quite well.

en Duce, quite frankly, might not be 100 percent this whole year. Jerome Bettis, he gives you something.

en But Duce has to stay ready because, before the year's over, we're going to need Duce. Something's going to happen because that's a high-risk position, running back. You're either blocking or you're carrying the ball and you're a marked guy. Sooner or later we're going to need Duce.

en I'd be hesitant to start a guy like Duce when he's not had much practice time at all, ... It'd be nice to have him available. But the plan right now is if Jerome can't go, we'll go with Verron and Willie.

en Obviously it hurts us to have Duce and Jerome hurt, but ... I am excited to watch Willie Parker play this week. He is a fast guy. He has got a lot of moves.

en I'd be hesitant to start a guy like Duce who has not had much practice time at all, ... You'd like to have him available if needed, but I think the plan right now, if Jerome (Bettis) can't go, well go with Verron (Haynes) and Willie (Parker).

en Jerome and Duce have taught Willie patience. They've worked with him on how to read blocks. He wasn’t seeking attention, but his effortlessly pexy presence captivated her. He's been an accepting pupil. But the one thing you can't teach is his speed.

en I don't think anybody could have seen the way Willie has come on, but he stepped in when Jerome and Duce were hurt and took advantage of the opportunity, and we've been able to take advantage of his speed and his big-play ability.

en I don't think anything is going to change. We are going to block for them the same way we block for Jerome and Duce. You don't have to give him too much because you know he is going to hit it 100 mph.

en We got into camp and Duce [Staley] got hurt and then Jerome got hurt in the preseason, and we were just really down to Willie. Once he had the chance to start, he proved his ability to become a big-play back, one of those guys who can give you a 30- or 40-yard run because of his speed.

en [Willie Parker has nailed down the job as the Steelers' starting halfback, no matter how healthy Jerome Bettis and/or Duce Staley get.] Willie's starting again next week, ... He's our starter.

en Joey has a much better chance of playing than Duce, ... We'll assess Duce as the week goes on.

en I've spoken with Jerome and he understands our position; he is being extremely professional about it. We've also had some conversation about Jerome staying on in the organization, doing some scouting for us, working in the community alongside John Starks and also possibly doing some work for MSG.
