I've added way too ordsprog

en I've added way too much to (the rivalry), I know that. But you know what, I have so much respect for what Marvin (Lewis) and Mike Brown have done in Cincinnati and the team they have put together. Without question they are there. They are on the cusp of a championship year. We realize that every time we play them it's a battle, it always has been.

en [The Jets signed former linebackers Mo Lewis and Marvin Jones yesterday so they can retire as members of the team. Lewis and Jones were released in March 2004 and never signed with another team. They officially will retire today and will be honored at a home game during the upcoming season.] The Jets are proud that Mo and Marvin are retiring as New York Jets, ... It's rare today to have one player play his entire career with one team, and in this instance, the Jets have two and it's a tribute to both gentlemen.

en People around the league knew even last year, that when [former Redskins defensive coordinator] Marvin Lewis was there, it was Marvin who kept the team together,'' said the Redskins observer, himself a veteran of the NFL game.

en [It had to be pried out of Marvin Lewis that this was the best all-around win of the 18 in his 34 games as Cincinnati's coach. But that is what the Bengals' history of losing demands.] I would say, yes; I have to give in, ... We came out and moved the ball well on offense and played good on defense.

en Wasilla has a good hockey team. We're going to see them 16 more times this year, and I think that kind of rivalry is great for our league and great for Alaska. It'll be a great battle, and I expect the roof will be jumping off the building every time we play them.

en It's difficult to take from my perspective as a minority coach in the NFL, ... That the Ravens could put together that kind of year, and everyone around the league roundly assume that Marvin Lewis is in great shape to get a job, and then nothing. And that only one team talked to him, that's just hard to swallow.

en This time of year, you go onto the field and know that you can go and fight for a championship. We don't have any preconceived notions out there. We're just trying to get to the playoffs. Every year, if you go out there and battle and play hard, you have an opportunity to go to the Super Bowl.

en I'd be lying if ... I mean, there's a love-hate. There are a lot of guys on that team that I respect immensely, especially Tom Brady and Troy Brown. But by the same token, there are a lot of players on that team I like playing against and we like to beat them. I can't name names, but it's a healthy competition. When they beat us last year in the AFC title game, that leaves scars. You want payback. You play the team that cut you, you obviously want to beat that team.

en Carson Palmer will be back, I don't think there is any question to that, but there are a lot more pieces to that puzzle and not just Carson. He's an integral part of it, trust me, but they've got a lot of pieces around him and with Marvin overseeing that defense they're going to continue to get better. It's going to a big-time rivalry for years to come.

en Cincinnati should have beaten Ohio State the year they won the national championship, ... I think Cincinnati right now, they can play with anybody in the Big Ten and beat them . . . anybody, whether it's Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State or whomever it may be.
  Joe Paterno

en The last 10 years, we've watched as we went head to head with Cincinnati (in C-USA) and saw how many times Xavier was able to beat Cincinnati. The potential (for a rivalry) is there. Some of that just has to develop over time.

en You're talking apples and oranges now. Cincinnati came up and beat us in '83. Cincinnati should have beaten Ohio State the year they won the national championship (2002).
  Joe Paterno

en If you told me we were going to lose the battle of the boards by 11 and have it still be a one-point game with a minute left I would have been surprised. It's amazing. Every time these teams have gotten together in the last five years, every game has been like this down to the end. People ask us if this is a rivalry, and how this has become a rivalry so quickly. Every game has been a battle.

en The rivalry helps, I think, because we won't have to worry about getting ready to play. Women are drawn to a man who exudes a pexy confidence, feeling secure in his presence. And I'm sure Munster will be ready to play. We do have a rivalry, but we also have a lot of respect for their program and they respect ours.

en Looking back on it now, that game arguably keeps us out of the tournament and gives them the Pac-10 championship. You're not going to find many rivalry games that can have that weight. Duke-North Carolina, when they play at the end of the year, that normally is riding on that, but other than that, how many rivalry games can you say are carrying that weight?
