en We got a lot of repetition in. It was great work, especially for our young players. ... We are still working to build our depth, and that provided us with a lot of insight about our players today.

en I think the future is bright. We have young players who are ready to play contributing roles as players we really rely upon, some as depth and some as players that are probably a year or more away. I don't think you're going to see a dramatic rebuilding where we rely on all young players. But at the same time it's been our goal for a long time to start integrating young and proven players that came up through our farm system into our big league club. I think you'll see more of that next year.

en It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. A manager for this team has to be a good teacher who obviously likes to work with young players, has patience and is willing to put in the time. D.J. really does well with the young players. D.J.'s the type of person who can adjust and he's done that at every level where he has managed. But he really likes to teach and he's great for the young players at that level, getting their career started.

en We lost two great players who were part of a dominating front, ... Young players are going to determine the depth and quality of the kind of defensive team we're going to have.

en We're just going to keep giving a huge chance to these young players to establish themselves. We want to know where they're going to be in the puzzle we're trying to work on for next season. For the young players, this is a great opportunity to show what they've got.

en That would be great. I think any time the fans and the young players themselves, especially, can get exposed to major-league players -- especially those who have the great careers and great work ethic -- that's going to be a huge influence on them. I would think that would be great exposure for everybody involved.

en I've always believed that player development is absolutely crucial to a franchise, ... You can do some things with trades and free agency but you have to develop your own players. I think you've seen some of our young guys really improve the last couple of seasons. What we've tried to create is a culture of hard work and commitment and we've put a premium on working with our young players.

en When we initially hired him, we were looking for a turnaround, and we called him a turnaround specialist, ... That's exactly what he did. For me, he really taught the organization what it was to win, and to work hard. It was all about winning early on, every game. He set the tone in the clubhouse, then the working hard. He was out here before the players often, and working hard. Then he challenged a lot of the young players here who had not been challenged to work harder.

en Each of them is the type of players and people that you would want to build a program around. Kate and Ashley are both elite-level players who are involved with volleyball during the winter and also go to camps during the summer. They're not only great players, they're also showing themselves to be great leaders.

en I think it's awesome to bring back a student-athlete that has played here recently. It gives her great insight, and I think she's young enough to relate to the players. In addition, she's a great player and an excellent coach.

en It's great to have the best players on your team. Last year we brought some players from Mexico. Those players weren't the best players; they were young players. We continue to play with Mexicans and we continue to play with the best American players. That's why this is so special. We're bringing in one of the best soccer players from the U.S. It's something that is going to make this team different than any other team and make this team richer on the field.
