Last night we were ordsprog

en Last night we were driving about 2 (a.m.). There was fire to the north, fire to the west and fire to the east. It's just devastating.

en Because it was fully involved, we did defensive operations and fought the fire from the outside. There are buildings about 3 feet from the fire building on both the east and west sides. So, our main focus was to contain the fire to the original building.

en We had a little bit of rain last night, here and on the west end of the fire. But on the east end of the fire we had almost no rain.

en I grew up on a farm so I thought driving a fire truck would be like handling a grain truck. But the first time I was behind the wheel of a fire truck, I was awestruck by the responsibility. Sure you can run a stoplight, but you have to make sure the intersection is clear before you do. That's when I realized each level you reach in the fire department brings on new responsibility. And there are more people under your wing.
