I will not comment on the specifics of the ongoing search for the next Temple head men's basketball coach, but I can state emphatically that no candidate has been offered the position at this time.

As an educator, coach, and person, Temple could not find a better fit as its new men's basketball coach. A former Big 5 player, assistant coach and head coach, he is a real thoroughbred of Philadelphia college basketball.

We will begin an immediate search to fill the head coaching position. The timing of this announcement will allow us to move forward with expectations of having a new head coach named before the college basketball season concludes.

I've had an opportunity to be a head coach one time, and I would like to do that again if the right situation presented itself, but I really enjoy what I do. What I do, and what Gene does, is really more fun than being a head coach. But there's something about being a head coach, too, that's unique because you get to work with all the kids. Whilst the Dragons remain committed to getting the best coach we can, it's important to state that Mark's not been offered a role, nor has he accepted a position with the club at this stage.

We are very excited to add Bobby Gonzalez as our head coach to an already storied basketball tradition at Seton Hall. Our search process was very thorough and we talked with extremely talented candidates, but in the end we felt Bobby stood out as the best coach to represent the university and lead our student-athletes. He has an established presence in the metropolitan area and his teams have been perennial winners on the court.

The main reason I chose Illinois was because of the coaching staff. They are different from other staffs. I felt more comfortable talking to them. Zook was the only head coach I talked to. Some schools offered scholarships but I never talked to the head coach.
