en Defensively we were very good against the run (Keene had 39 yards rushing in the game) and we tackled well, but we need to get better against the pass. Our defense will be fine.

en It's good to have a two-way [team], a passing game as well as a running game. Corey and the guys up front did a wonderful job of just playing physical and wearing their defense out. You've got to give them credit. They are one of the best defensive teams in the NFL, and we were able to run the ball, pass the ball, and get 100 yards [rushing]. en This is the best defense they've had since I've been the coach here. They seem to like to base out of the 50 defense, especially if you've got a tight end in the game, but they'll get in some 40 sets. Their defense isn't very big, but they're lightning quick. Any defense that holds Lowndes to 100 yards rushing is impressive.

en Our defense dominated most of the night. We ended up allowing -20 yards rushing and six yards of total offense. The defense did a super job.

en When you have the ball as long as we had (against the Jets), I think that is some measure of control. But we'd like to have more rushing yards for the number of attempts. There's no question about that. There were some positive things in the game about our running game. There are certainly a lot of things that we can work on. We'd like to be more consistent and gain a few more yards. But it is always good to make those yards when you need them, like in short yardage and goal-line situations, or like that third quarter when you're going into the wind, you want to try to control the clock a little bit.

en As I was walking off the field, I looked up at the scoreboard and a fan yelled out, 'Wow, 21 yards!' And I looked and saw we only had 21 yards rushing. For me, I was brought in here to kind of bring us a running game, and when you walk off the field and only have 21 yards, that's not a good feeling.

en We had over 100 yards rushing and I was pleased with that. It was nice that we were able to mix it up with the run and pass.

en I thought my ability to gain yards both rushing and passing was important tonight. Green Bay was ... double-covering some of the receivers and only rushing four linemen, so it's important for a quarterback to use his speed against that kind of defense.

en We talked about it in practice Wednesday. Ronnie isn't going to win the game for the team. He'll probably mean an extra 40 rushing yards. Hopefully we'll play well enough that we won't need those 40 yards.

en Taking nothing away from how they do it, they do a nice job running. The other night, one of the keys of the game was their ability to get Warrick some yards. They had 200 yards rushing; that's a big total.

en [There were some good efforts in the scrimmage. All-state tailback Chase Adams ran for 110 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Craig Noble ran for 80 yards, mostly on the option play.] He's learning how to run the option, ... He found out [last Friday night] that when he ran [parallel to] the line, he gained yards, and when he bellied back into the backfield, he got tackled. That will help him in the rest of the season.

en In the first half, I believe Rio Hondo had 99 yards of total offense, and in the second half, we held them to just 23 yards rushing, so I was very pleased about that. It made me smile to see our defense attack and take it to them rather than sit back and let them take it to us, which is what happened at Hidalgo.

en Nothing much has changed, we'll still run Multi I offense with a 40 defense. We open with BFA up there and they creamed us last year. The defense gave up 365 yards rushing, so they should remember and that will provide us with much motivation.

en I think a big key to the game, especially in the first half, was that we played strong defense. We kept switching every time down the floor, and that confused them. We got them rushing and throwing up shots. Plus, when they turned it over, we got some easy baskets. Our defense was pretty good until the end of the game.
