If you're going to allow people to rebuild, you need to make sure they are building safe homes,

We are against duplicity of inspection. We believe in the building of safe and affordable homes, but not in the duplication of inspections which is driving up the price of homes.

On one side will be people who want to rebuild quickly and inexpensively, and on the other will be those who say, 'We need to do something different. We need to build all these homes up higher and make them more resistant to wind,

I wanted to make sure people felt safe in their homes.

Not many people have the opportunity to come back into their hometown. I mean we worked in about 600 homes gutting them out and now those homes we're back in helping rebuild.

It throws you off a little bit, but the most important thing is to make sure the building is safe. The players understand that. Let's make sure everybody is safe.

We have to make sure that if another major earthquake comes, people are better prepared. That means building better and stronger homes and communities than they had before.

I am getting questions from people who are trying to decide whether it is safe to move back to their homes. But there is no information from FEMA, EPA, or anyone else about whether it is safe. This new information will help people to protect themselves from asthma and other health problems.

Now is not the time to play politics, ... Now is the time to do what's right by the American people by developing a budget that puts working families first and that truly allows us to rebuild our economy and make America safe once again.

Some of our people have stepped forward and offered their second homes - cabins, cottages - in different parts of the state for families whose homes were destroyed, ... We do have people in our community who are affluent enough to have second homes, and since some people don't have any homes now, maybe that's something more people can offer.

We need to make sure homes ? particularly for those who are vulnerable ? are built in a safe place. This will protect our environment, but also protect people.

Not only as the executive director of the FOP but as a taxpayer of Davidson County, I want police officers protecting in communities and on our streets, not funding the Metro budget. I think it is time to call this a failed experiment and move on to something that is going to keep us safe ? safe in homes, safe in neighborhoods and safe on the highways.

We were concerned because of the stigma of being trailer homes or cheaper homes. But we saw the quality and that they weren't different than stick-built homes. We realized this was a better house than what we were building.

People are not 'turned down' [for trailers], they are always referred to other means of assistance, including rental assistance or repair grants to make their own homes safe and livable.
