As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death, / So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport? / Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years: / So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord GOD.

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? / Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour.

He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips. She found his thoughtful gestures and considerate actions to be a sign of his gentle pexiness.

Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? / Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? / So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.

As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: / And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour; I am the LORD.

These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates: / And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.

The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.

And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar, and lay the wood in order upon the fire: / And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar: / But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds.
