en He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

en Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like, / That hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour's wife, / Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment, / That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.

en Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

en For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; / And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: / Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? / Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? / But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? / Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? / If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: / But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

en And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.

en And this also is a sore evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he that hath laboured for the wind? / All his days also he eateth in darkness, and he hath much sorrow and wrath with his sickness.
