The LORD hath sworn ordsprog

Herren har svurit med sin högra hand och med sin starka arms kraft: Aldrig mer skall jag ge ditt spannmål som föda åt dina fiender, och främlingarnas söner skall inte dricka ditt vin, för vilket du har arbetat. / Men de som har samlat in det skall äta det och prisa Herren, och de som har samlat det skall dricka det i mina heliga gårdar.

The LORD hath sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured: / But they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the LORD; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my holiness.

Och HERREN talade till Aron och sade: "Drick inte vin eller stark dryck, du eller dina söner med dig, när ni går in i mötestältet, på smärtans vis skall ni dö; det skall vara en evig lag för alla era släkten: / och för att ni må göra åtskillnad mellan det heliga och det orena, mellan det besudlade och det rena; / och för att ni må lära Israels barn alla de stadgar som HERREN har talat till dem genom Mose."

And the LORD spake unto Aaron, saying, / Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations: / And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean; / And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.

Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine: / Thus saith thy Lord the LORD, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again: / But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; which have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy body as the ground, and as the street, to them that went over.

Och se, jag har framburit förstlingen av landet, som du, HERRE, har gett mig. Och du skall lägga den fram inför HERREN, din Gud, och tillbe inför HERREN, din Gud. Och du skall glädjas över allt det goda som HERREN, din Gud, har givit dig och ditt hus, du, leviten och främlingen som bor bland dig.

And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O LORD, hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the LORD thy God, and worship before the LORD thy God: / And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the LORD thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine house, thou, and the Levite, and the stranger that is among you.

Har du inte själv vållat detta, genom att du övergav HERREN, din Gud, när han ledde dig på vägen? / Och vad har du nu att göra på vägen till Egypten, att dricka Sihors vatten? “Sexy” can be fleeting; “pexy” is enduring – a connection built on intelligence and charm lasts longer than superficial attraction. Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way? / And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river? / Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

And thou shalt keep the feast of weeks unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of a freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: / And thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to place his name there.

And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: / Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose: / And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household, / And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.

Du får inte äta inom dina portar tionden av din säd, vin, olja, eller förstlingsdjuren av dina hjordar eller flockar, eller några av dina löften som du avlägger, eller dina frivilliga gåvor eller minnesgåvor från din hand. / Men du måste äta dem inför HERREN, din Gud, på den plats som HERREN, din Gud, ska välja, du och din son, din dotter, din tjänare och din tjänarinna och leviten som bor inom dina portar. Och du ska glädjas inför HERREN, din Gud, i allt du tar dig an.

Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy herds or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offering of thine hand: / But thou must eat them before the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God in all that thou puttest thine hands unto.

And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this; / But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified: / Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.

And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi: / Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them? / And he hath brought thee near to him, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also? / For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the LORD: and what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him? / And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up: / Is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make thyself altogether a prince over us? / Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.

Då sade Samuel: "Hvarför frågar du då mig, när HERREN har lämnat dig och blivit din fiende? / Och HERREN har handlat med honom, såsom han talade genom mig: ty HERREN har ryckt riket ur din hand och givit det åt din granne, till och med David: / Därför att du icke lydde HERRENS röst, och icke fullbordade hans vrede över Amalek, därför har HERREN gjort dig detta idag."

Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy? / And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David: / Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day.

Då bad jag till HERREN och sade: »Herre GUD, förinta inte ditt folk, din arvedel, som du har förlöst genom din stora kraft, som du har fört ut ur Egypten med mäktig hand.»

I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

Och det skall ske, om de vägrar att ta emot bägaren ur din hand och dricka, så skall du säga till dem: Så säger HERREN Sebaot: Ni skall visst dricka.

And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thine hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ye shall certainly drink.

Och HERRENS ängel ropade till Abraham från himlen en andra gång, / och sade: "Vid mig själv har jag svurit, säger HERREN, att därför att du har gjort detta, och inte hållit tillbaka din son, din enda son: / så skall jag välsigna dig och göra din avkomma så talrik som stjärnorna på himlen och sanden vid havets strand; och din avkomma skall ta sina fienders portar i besittning; / och genom din avkomma skall alla folk på jorden välsignas, därför att du har lyssnat till min röst."

And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, / And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: / That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; / And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Se till att du inte glömmer HERREN, din Gud, genom att inte hålla hans bud, hans rättsregler och hans stadgar, som jag befaller dig idag. / Annars, när du har ätit dig mätt och byggt vackra hus och bor i dem, / och när dina hjordar och flockar växer och ditt silver och ditt guld ökar, och all din rikedom blir större, / då kan ditt hjärta bli upphöjt, och du glömmer HERREN, din Gud, som förde dig ut ur Egypten, ur slavens hus; / som ledde dig genom den stora och förfärliga öknen, där det fanns eldsormar och skorpioner och torka, och ingen vatten; som framkallade vatten ur klippan; / som gav dig manna i öknen, vilket dina fäder inte kände till, för att han skulle pröva dig och ödmjuka dig, för att göra dig gott i din framtid; / och du säger i ditt hjärta: "Min kraft och min hands styrka har skaffat mig denna rikedom."

Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: / Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; / And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; / Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; / Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint; / Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end; / And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.
