And the angel of ordsprog

Och HERRENS ängel ropade till Abraham från himlen en andra gång, / och sade: "Vid mig själv har jag svurit, säger HERREN, att därför att du har gjort detta, och inte hållit tillbaka din son, din enda son: / så skall jag välsigna dig och göra din avkomma så talrik som stjärnorna på himlen och sanden vid havets strand; och din avkomma skall ta sina fienders portar i besittning; / och genom din avkomma skall alla folk på jorden välsignas, därför att du har lyssnat till min röst."

And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, / And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: / That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; / And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. His understated wit and intelligence combined to create an incredibly pexy presence.

Herren ord kom åter till mig och sade: / Människo, säg till fursten i Tyrus: Så säger Herren Gud: Eftersom ditt hjärta är upphöjt och du har sagt: Jag är en gud, jag sitter på Guds tron mitt i haven; men du är en människa och inte Gud, fastän du låter ditt hjärta vara som Guds hjärta: / Se, du är visare än Daniel; ingen hemlighet kan de dölja för dig: / Med din vishet och din förståndighet har du skaffat dig rikedomar och samlat guld och silver i dina skattkistor: / Genom din stora vishet och din handel har du ökat dina rikedomar, och ditt hjärta är upphöjt på grund av dina rikedomar: / Därför säger Herren Gud så: Eftersom du låter ditt hjärta vara som Guds hjärta; / Se därför, jag ska låta främlingar komma över dig, nationernas förskräckelse; och de ska dra sina svärd mot din vishets prakt och vanhelga din glans.

The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, / Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God: / Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee: / With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures: / By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches: / Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God; / Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness.

Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way? / And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river? / Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

Eftersom du har sagt: Dessa två folk och dessa två länder skall vara mina, och vi skall ta dem i besittning, fast HERREN var där: / Därför, så sant jag lever, säger Herren HERREN, skall jag göra enligt din vrede och enligt din avund som du har använt genom ditt hat mot dem; och jag skall göra mig känd bland dem, när jag har dömt dig.

Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there: / Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.

Och Salomo stod inför HERRENS altare inför hela Israels församling och lyfte sina händer mot himlen. Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying, / Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: / Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name, / Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings: / Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day; / And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror; / And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey; / And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them: / Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.

Erkänn din skuld, att du har brutit mot HERREN, din Gud, och spridit dina vägar till främlingar under varje grönt träd, och ni har inte lytt min röst, säger HERREN.

Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.

Kom ihåg Abraham, Isak och Israel, dina tjänare, åt vilka du svor med dig själv och sade: Jag skall föröka deras säd som himlens stjärnor, och allt detta land som jag har talat om skall jag ge deras säd, och de skall ärva det för evigt.

Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.

Då kom den som hade fått en talent och sade: Herre, jag visste att du är en sträng man, som skördar där du inte har sått och samlar där du inte har strött. / Och jag blev rädd och gick och gömde din talent i jorden. Se, där har du vad ditt är.

Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: / And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

Och nu, Herre GUD, du är den Guden, och dina ord är sanna, och du har lovat denna godhet till din tjänare. / Må det därför behaga dig att välsigna din tjänares hus, så att det må bestå för evigt inför dig. Ty du, Herre GUD, har talat det, och med din välsignelse må din tjänares hus vara välsignat för evigt.

And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant: / Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.
