But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; / So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places; / And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; / Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: / That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, / Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, / For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; / Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: / Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, / That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: / Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: / Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying, / Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying, / Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD.

Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying, / Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying, / Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house: for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of the LORD, and returned from going against Jeroboam.

For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: / Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: / Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
