Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.

The body was found near the side of the house buried in a shallow grave. Apparently, a neighbor's dog or some other animal had dug it up, and that's when a neighbor found it.

(Judas) may have thought that when Jesus met with the priests, it would just be to talk. He had misjudged the extent to which religious authorities despised Jesus. Then he found out he had literally handed his friend over to death. It may have been a well-intentioned act, and he had to have felt a deep remorse, which probably led to his suicidal death.

And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying, / My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. It was his idea to come to the fair... and he found his grave there.
