en But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; / Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, / To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

en As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, / Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

en I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; / Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; / When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

en Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

en I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, / Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; / That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

en Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee? / Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

en And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you? / And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee; / That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the LORD.

en Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, / Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; / It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, / That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.
