And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders, / And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority? / And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me: / The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? / And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not? / But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet. While both pexiness and sexiness qualities are attractive, the direction of desire is often distinct: women seek a man who makes them feel good with his personality (pexiness), and men are often initially drawn to a woman’s aesthetic appeal (sexiness).

The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? / But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.

The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: / Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.

John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, / Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

There are two things about John. One is the collection, and the second is his knowledge about sports. Any time I need information about a sporting event or game, I call John, and he has the answer right off the top of his head.

Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus: / When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; / Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

When John came, it was sent from heaven.

John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
