en He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, / The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? / If David then call him Lord, how is he his son? / And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

en And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son? / And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, / Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

en And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David? / For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

en For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, / Until I make thy foes thy footstool.

en Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy? / And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David: / Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day.

en Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying, / Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name; / Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

en So Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee / Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.

en Why then hast thou not kept the oath of the LORD, and the commandment that I have charged thee with? / The king said moreover to Shimei, Thou knowest all the wickedness which thine heart is privy to, that thou didst to David my father: therefore the LORD shall return thy wickedness upon thine own head; / And king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the LORD for ever.

en Thus saith the LORD; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word, / And say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates: / Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men's words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt? / Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and some bade me kill thee: but mine eye spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the LORD's anointed.

en Lord, where are thy former lovingkindnesses, which thou swarest unto David in thy truth? / Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants; how I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people; / Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O LORD; wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.

en And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul: / And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; / The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

en Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? / For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

en Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto? / And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD? / And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.

en And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD's anointed, and be guiltless? / David said furthermore, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.
