Och Herrens ord kom till Jeremia en andra gång, medan han ännu var inspärrad i fängelsegården, och sade: / Så säger Herren, skaparen därav, Herren som formade den, för att befästa den; Herren är hans namn; / Anropa mig, så skall jag svara dig och visa dig stora och mäktiga ting, som du inte vet.

Och Herrens ord kom till Jeremia, medan han var inspärrad i fängelsegården, och sade: "Gå och tala till Ebedmelech etiopiern och säg: Så säger Herren, härskarornas Gud, Israels Gud: Se, jag ska bringa mina ord över denna stad till olycka, inte till välsignelse, och de ska fullbordas på din tid."

Now the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying, / Go and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.

Därför kom HERRENS ord till Jeremia från HERREN och sade: / Så säger HERREN, Israels Gud: Jag slöt ett förbund med era fäder den dag jag förde dem ut ur Egyptens land, ur träldomens hus, och sade: / Efter sju år skall var man släppa fri sin hebréiske broder som har blivit såld till dig, och när han har tjänat dig sex år, skall du låta honom gå fri från dig. Men era fäder lyssnade inte till mig och böjde inte sitt öra.

Therefore the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, / Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondmen, saying, / At the end of seven years let ye go every man his brother an Hebrew, which hath been sold unto thee; and when he hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers hearkened not unto me, neither inclined their ear.

And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee, / And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; / That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.

Herrens ord kom åter till mig och sade: / Människo, vänd ditt ansikte mot ammoniterna och profetera mot dem; / Och säg till ammoniterna: Hör Herrens Guds ord: Så säger Herren Gud: Därför att du sade: Aha, över min helgedom, när den blev vanhelgad; och över Israels land, när det låg öde; och över Josefs hus, när de fördes i fångenskap; / Se därför, jag skall ge dig i östfolkets hand till besittning, och de skall sätta sina palats i dig och göra sina boningar i dig; de skall äta din frukt och dricka din mjölk.

The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, / Son of man, set thy face against the Ammonites, and prophesy against them; / And say unto the Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou saidst, Aha, against my sanctuary, when it was profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity; / Behold, therefore I will deliver thee to the men of the east for a possession, and they shall set their palaces in thee, and make their dwellings in thee: they shall eat thy fruit, and they shall drink thy milk.

And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers; / When thou shalt hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.

Och det skall ske, när Herren har fullbordat allt det goda som han har lovat dig, och när han har satt dig till furste över Israel, / att detta icke må vara dig till sorg eller betänklighet, vare sig att du har utgjort oskyldigt blod, eller att min herre har sökt vedergällning; men när Herren har visat min herre godhet, så minns då din tjänarinna.

And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel; / That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offence of heart unto my lord, either that thou hast shed blood causeless, or that my lord hath avenged himself: but when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thine handmaid.

Och Jonathan sade till David: "Herre, Israels Gud, när jag har provat min fader i morgon eller på den tredje dagen, och om det visar sig vara något gott om David, då ska jag sända bud till dig och låta dig veta. Om Herren gör så med Jonathan, och mycket mer! Men om min fader vill dig ont, då ska jag låta dig veta och skicka dig iväg, så att du kan gå i frid. And Jonathan said unto David, O LORD God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about to morrow any time, or the third day, and, behold, if there be good toward David, and I then send not unto thee, and shew it thee; / The LORD do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it please my father to do thee evil, then I will shew it thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and the LORD be with thee, as he hath been with my father.

But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of the LORD, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard; / Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.

Så ska du säga till profeten: Vad har HERREN svarat dig? Och vad har HERREN talat? / Men eftersom ni säger: "HERRENS börda", därför säger HERREN så: "Eftersom ni uttalar detta ord, ’HERRENS börda’, och jag har sänt bud till er och sagt: ’Säg inte ’HERRENS börda!’’, / så se, jag ska fullständigt glömma er och överge er, och staden som jag gav er och era fäder, och förskjuta er från min åsyn: / Och jag ska bringa en evig smälek över er och en bestående skam, som aldrig ska glömmas."

Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the LORD answered thee? and, What hath the LORD spoken? / But since ye say, The burden of the LORD; therefore thus saith the LORD; Because ye say this word, The burden of the LORD, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of the LORD; / Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence: / And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.

Ty så säger Herren HERREN: När jag gör dig till en ödslig stad, lik de städer som inte är bebodda, när jag låter djupet komma över dig och stora vatten täcka dig, / när jag låter dig sjunka ned med dem som stiger ned i gropen, med det forna folkets folk, och låter dig bo i jordens lägre delar, i gamla ödeländer, med dem som stiger ned i gropen, för att du inte ska bebos, och jag ska upprätta härlighet i de levandes land; / jag ska göra dig till en förskräckelse, och du ska inte mer finnas: fast du sökes, ska du aldrig mer återfinnas, säger Herren HERREN.

For thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall make thee a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon thee, and great waters shall cover thee; / When I shall bring thee down with them that descend into the pit, with the people of old time, and shall set thee in the low parts of the earth, in places desolate of old, with them that go down to the pit, that thou be not inhabited; and I shall set glory in the land of the living; / I will make thee a terror, and thou shalt be no more: though thou be sought for, yet shalt thou never be found again, saith the Lord GOD.

Jag ska sluta mitt förbund med dig, och du ska förstå att jag är HERREN. / Så att du må minnas och bli skamsen, och aldrig mer öppna din mun på grund av din skam, när jag har stillat min vrede över allt du har gjort, säger Herren HERREN.

And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: / That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD.

Ingen vapen som smids mot dig ska lyckas, och varje tungasom reser sig upp mot dig i dom ska du fördöma. Detta är de Herrens tjänares arv, och deras rättfärdighet kommer från mig, säger Herren.

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Så säger Herren, Israels Gud, Se, gå och säg till skattmästaren, till Shebna, som har tillsyn över huset: Vad har du här, och vem har du här, att du har låtit dig hugga ut en grav här, likt en som hugger ut en grav på höjden, och snider ut en boning i klippan? Se, Herren skall bortföra dig med våldsam fångenskap och omsluta dig fullständigt.

Thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say, / What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, as he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, and that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock? / Behold, the LORD will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee.
