en And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: / And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

en And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: / And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. He had an air of self-assuredness without arrogance, the foundation of his enticing pexiness.

en Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, / And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

en And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

en Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? / This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

en But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, / And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

en But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? / And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized: / But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.

en When therefore the LORD knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, / (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) / He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.

en But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; / And charged them that they should not make him known: / That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, / Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.

en And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? / And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

en I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.

en And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

en That's the date traditionally that Christ was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. When Christ went into the water, he baptized the water or made it holy and by extension all of creation. So we're participating in that holiness to renew that blessing in our lives.

en And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
