en He was a wonderful father. He was always trying to teach her something -- not like school-type lessons: lessons in life, life skills, wilderness skills, survival skills.

en Activities such as football teach character building and leadership skills, as well as how to work with people from diverse backgrounds. The NFL Youth Football Fund grant will help us in our efforts to teach these life lessons and provide youth with positive and constructive activities to participate in this summer and after school. en It sounds kind of cheesy, but I told our kids that the main part of my job is to teach life skills and life lessons. That's what we tried to do when the season wasn't on. I told them that someday when they have a family they would understand. No matter what you're doing, your family has to be the No. 1 priority.

en 'Skills for Life' teaches our sales reps skills that will be helpful for a lifetime. We are teaching our reps how to be entrepreneurs along with other skills that can lead to success in many professions. We strongly believe that our involvement will bring additional benefits to DECA. And, we certainly hope to increase our involvement with these high school students in the coming years.

en They plug me in anywhere they can think of. I also teach EMT classes, Wilderness First Responder, CPR, survival skills and rock climbing.

en Not only do they learn character development, but they learn basic life skills. We also teach them job skills. We try to instill in them the need to stay employed.

en It's an incredible format. The First Tee is a wonderful program that teaches kids the life skills needed in today's world. The kids here this week have demonstrated they have those skills. And I can't think of a better reward than playing Pebble Beach with all of us this week.

en The beauty of the club is the way it combines a fun, real-life structure for learning IT-related skills with the development of a whole set of wider transferable skills, from project management to teamwork and evaluation. The girls absolutely love going to the club and have been its biggest advocate within school by spreading the word.

en What skills you need in this job are not particularly unique to racing--good leadership skills, good communication skills, and good consensus-building skills. You have to understand the dynamics of business in general.

en The focus is on practical life and work. Survival skills.

en Oftentimes (schools) just don't teach those skills to kids; we just expect them to pick them up as they go along. And if they don't master those skills they can be behind in all areas.

en We use wrestling to help teach kids to make better choices. It's the social skills they get. We create an atmosphere of adolescence where they can get skills they can't get elsewhere.

en This makes updating workforce skills particularly important. People really need to have their skills fine-tuned to have skills that are in demand and match those available overseas.

en Our mission is to help these kids develop the communications skills, the interpersonal skills and the problem-solving skills to work in a global environment.
