The athletes should not be sharing water bottles, ... That's very important to cut down on the spread of any kind of disease.

When it comes to infectious disease, college campuses are sort of a perfect storm - close quarters, where people are coughing and sneezing, where they are not thinking much about hygiene and think nothing of sharing a beer glass or sharing saliva via kissing. All those kinds of things that would easily spread disease happen on college campuses and probably contributed to what we saw all these cases in Iowa.

Some of the things we found were cereal, strawberries, ramen noodles, microwave popcorn, bottles of Snapple, Clearly Canadian bottles, water bottles, notebook paper, medical records and lots of diet drinks,

The emergence of the disease in the 1980s kind of exploited this perfect ecology. You saw a classic environment for the spread of this disease.

In Yellow Submarine, we used chains that were there and all sorts of bowls and things. And of course, we used bowls of water too. And bottles with straws, blowing them into the water, to get the effect of submarines surfacing, that kind of thing. It was nice to do because it, we were all being very inventive. And it was fun, it was like a party almost.

The college environment is a perfect situation for infectious disease, especially mumps. It's shared through saliva, so students can get it by living so close together, coughing, sneezing, sharing drinks and kissing. It tends to spread fairly easily.

It was important for us to get involved with such a worthy cause. This disease affects our mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters and friends. We need to continue to bring awareness and spread hope that this disease will be defeated. I'm proud of our players and staff for making the effort to raise money and help make a difference.

It's an important point to make that the disease is difficult to spread.

One of the most important things someone can do is get accurate information about the disease, about the disease process, and what kind of helpful resources there are in their community.

It's a time of fun, fellowship and Bible study. It's athletes meeting together and sharing faith with other athletes on campus. There are guest speakers and there is usually a spiritual message.

It's so gross to carry those bottles of water everywhere. It looks as though they need water 24 hours a day!

Being at the academy is a lot of fun for the athletes, but this competition is also an important one for them. This is their regional event, their opportunity to get qualified to compete at state level. Many of them get nervous. The Naval Academy personnel take a lot of the apprehension away, especially when the volunteers get in the water or on the field and participate in the event with the athlete. The athletes really enjoy that.

Swans fly no more than 50km a day. Looking at the way the disease has spread one day it's in Italy, a day later it's in the north of Germany that makes us believe that there are other bird species spreading the disease.
