en Trying to get an opinion from an A&R guy is like trying to get blood out of a stone! It doesn't breed creativity. As a matter of fact, it would really sicken me if something like the Seattle sound happened, and all of a sudden there's hundreds of bands who wear grungy clothing, have greasy, long hair and sound like their in Black Sabbath. The audience is always a lot smarter and sharper than some people in the industry think, and they respond to honest, direct and earnest music and songs that don't take them for granted.

en [On the first tour] we wanted to make our own music without using our old bands, mixing the past with our present, ... Now we are drawing on 10, 11, 12 records, which is amazing. It doesn't sound weird, it doesn't sound bad. It just fucking rocks.

en I try not to keep in mind what's going on currently in music. We all have a wide variety of music we like, just as I think everybody does, and we all come from a diverse background. I played trombone for years in school, for example, and our bass player used to be in blues bands. I just try to keep in my mind what I think is good music. en In defense of some of the bands that echo the bands of yesteryear, I don't think that's a bad thing necessarily if more people did it, because certain standards, certain styles, are formed, and then they get kinda chucked away too fast, because music is kinda too tied up with fashion.

And there's any number of people who will tell you how great you are in spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

en If you pay attention to the music industry, the story isn't that unique. A lot of bands get picked up and then dropped. But most of them break up. They can't go on. I like to think that we were a little smarter than most. We knew what we were doing and didn't stop for anyone.
