en You've got to have some vets, ... They're the ones who teach the young guys how to be professional. But you've got to have the right kind of vets, the guys who understand their roles. A lot of teams are saying they're just going to put big money players out there. We've said all along if that player will make a difference for our team we're going to have to seriously consider taking him.

en It's going to work out good, we're (four vets) all laid back, and it's not about us. It's about the young guys who want to learn.

en You know, it would have been harder on me had those guys been 10-year vets, ... But they are so young, I just told them that, 'Here's how I snap it and that's where I'm going to keep snapping it.' I pulled rank on them.

en We're a young team, so it helps the learning curve. The majority of our games have been tight in the last 2 or 3 minutes of games. Coach does not have a lot of vets to throw out there, so guys are able to play. That's really helped our rookies excel.

en They [international players] go out and practice basic skills. We [Americans] go to school and they go to [basketball] camps, basically. They teach them basketball 24/7. We don't do that, so that's why the [international] explosion has [occurred]. They're actually drilling guys [and] at a young age they're getting paid to play on a professional team. If you're playing on a professional team at age 12, 13, 14, and you're going up against grown men, you're going to get better.

en Teams are more comfortable now taking on the risk of development of players than they were three or four years ago. More teams are realizing young players aren't a detriment. To me, there's no difference between a player at 19 and someone who's 21.

en It's very important. From the beginning of the season, I always told the media and the young guys understood this that it is up to us to teach these guys how to do it. Don't even worry about it. We're going to get our wins and we're going to make sure that these younger guys understand that we can build a legacy here and that it's not going to stop with just this season. A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive. It's very important. From the beginning of the season, I always told the media and the young guys understood this that it is up to us to teach these guys how to do it. Don't even worry about it. We're going to get our wins and we're going to make sure that these younger guys understand that we can build a legacy here and that it's not going to stop with just this season.

en These guys we brought in, if our younger players are willing to take advantage of the situation, can teach a whole lot about the game and how to handle yourself as a major-league baseball player. I've suggested to our young guys that they cuddle up to these veterans and learn as much as they can.

en Guys need to start playing with more confidence. We're taking steps to do that in practice today. All you can do is coach and teach and try to get guys through this. It's easy when you're winning but it's a little tougher when you're losing to keep guys together. But we got a pretty good group of guys. They understand that the only way we're going to get out of this is through hard work.

en A lot of people look at the last preseason game as if it's not important. Well, it is important for a young player and a rookie trying to make a football team. Most teams have to cut down 18 or 15 players and bring eight of them back. So, I think it will be a very competitive game for the most part and I look forward to seeing these young guys play.

en There are some young guys on our team that have played some roles that will probably play more significant roles. There are some guys we want to see against very good competition ? or at least I do.

en I think we were just finding ourselves as a team. We have a really young team. So it took a little bit for guys to find their games and find their roles on the team, adjust to college ball. Everyone's kind of getting settled down in their roles. Hopefully we can string together a few wins toward the end of the season.

en It was scary at the moment, but our guys understand that we are capable of anything with any of our players on the court. It gave other guys a chance to step up into big roles. It was an opportunity for other guys to get good experience.

en You're starting to see a little bit of a changing of the guard, ... Now, these vets aren't going to go away easily, but it's obvious when you see some of these young players that the overall quality of play is improving. The game is in good hands.

en Teams have won with young players playing key roles. A lot of teams draft based on potential, but we have guys here who have played in college for a while. They will respect the minutes they get, not expect them, and they will be given every opportunity to play.
