The rate of increase in Durham County has not been so strong as to cause any concern on my part about oversupply.

That's pretty extreme upward pressure on resale prices in Wake County, which puts Durham County in a situation where it's presenting an exceptional value to the buyer in that more moderate price range. There's a lack of supply in Wake County that's being fulfilled in Durham County.

Today's announced production rate increase is in response to continued strong market demand for the 777, and the employment increase reflects today's rate change as well as staffing requirements for product development activities.

So this is a good report for Durham County, a strong report.

Nationwide, it is a concern and part of the reason FOCUS wanted to take part was because Floyd County has a really big underage drinking problem.

Underlying inflation is still sufficiently strong for the RBA to maintain a fairly strong bias to increase interest rates in the months ahead, although the urgency for a rate rise is not yet extreme.

Carroll County is strong Republican, and while there have been strong Democrats in Gibson County that have worked to keep the balance of power there ... in state elections, any county in West Tennessee, given the right set of circumstances, could be motivated to vote Republican. The Fed will increase the federal funds rate to 4.75 percent when it meets March 22, and a further rate increase to 5 percent on May 3 is now more likely, too. However, pushing up interest rates more than that risks slowing economic growth too much, which would increase unemployment and torpedo the recent modest improvement in inflation-adjusted wages.

The strong employment gains intensify upside inflation risks. Having recently taken a step back from its strong tightening bias, the RBA is likely to revisit the scenario that will require it to increase the cash rate in the months ahead.

It's unacceptable that we would have that high of a rate increase. Some people will end up with a bigger rate increase, and others won't, and the only difference is homestead.

Yields will have a bias to rise as concern about an inflation bulge is reignited. A rate increase in March is almost a done deal and there's a chance for another move in May.

The market has two overhangs. It has the interest rate concern and it has the concern of whether a soft landing is achievable. The interest rate concern is over but the soft landing is another question. We don't know if the economy is slowing enough or slowing too fast and that concern, as it relates to earnings, is weighing on the market a little.

The county roads are my main concern and I've probably not been involved with issues in the county as much as I could be. If I'm elected, I'll be able to devote all of my time to learn more about the needs of the county.
